Alex is the Managing Partner of Stags and Head of the Professional Services Department. Having joined Stags in 1995, over the past 25 years Alex has had a wide range of property-based experience including running an estate agency office and then setting up the Farm Agency department in Exeter in 2002 and personally handling the sale of tens of thousands of acres including commercial, residential and lifestyle farms, smallholdings and land.

Alex now acts solely as a professional providing advice and consultancy services. He is a fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV) as well as an accredited expert witness and RICS Registered valuer. His main area of work is in formal valuations, often as an expert witness, providing valuations for both residential and agricultural property for a variety of purposes including matrimonial, civil procedure, partnership dissolution as well as RICS Red Book Valuations for all purposes including inheritance, capital gains taxation, SIPP, Charities Act and secured lending.

As a Partner, Alex is keen to see the firm and the people within it to develop and grow.

Alex grew up on a dairy farm near Cullompton, schooled at Blundell’s in Tiverton and Reading University where he read Land Management. He is a keen supporter of Exeter Chiefs and is still occasionally seen on the Fives Court as well as cycling the Devon lanes.

SIPP, Charities Act, CGT (Capital Gains Tax) and secured lending valuations

Managed the marketing and letting of complete dairy farm and large arable holding under 10-year FBT (Farm Business Tenancy) arrangement

AHA (Agricultural Holdings Act) Tenancy negotiations arising out of succession claim
